Touch-A-Truck and Time for a Swim!

For about a year now, my sister-in-law Katie has been involved in a volunteer group called Falls 4 All that is working to raise funds to build a handicap accessible playground at Minnehaha Falls.  A few weekends ago, they had a fundraising event called Touch-a-Truck where you could go and get an inside peek at a bunch of different kinds of trucks (fire truck, swat truck, police car, tow truck, semi-truck, bucket truck, etc.).  After a rainy start, it ended up being a pretty nice day and the kids had a good time seeing the trucks, getting their face painted and bouncing in the bouncy house.  They even got to try on some SWAT gear – those helmets are heavy!

Both kids took a ride in the bucket truck with Jeff and Hallie tried out the car you could win in the raffle.  Sadly our ticket was not the lucky winner – she looked good in that car!

My parents also were in town that weekend for a quick visit and we headed over to our favorite hotel for some swimming the next day.  Both kids love going down the big water slide and Hallie loves the little kids pool with the froggy slide too.  Ben is kind of over the baby pool and gets around pretty well in his life jacket in the big pool.  He is a pro at what he calls “monkey on the wall” (working his way down the wall by hanging on the the edge) and he’s a pretty good swimmer too.  They both love the water so much that I’m considering getting a membership to the pool for the summer.  It opens next week and I think we will do a few trial runs so I can decide how easy it will be to keep two kids from drowning by myself.  Smile
