Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen?

IMG_0140Ben likes to cook but usually we sneak our cooking sessions in during Hallie’s nap.  I decided that Hallie is probably old enough to be able to help so today she helped us whip up some Blueberry Bran muffins.  Some people give bran muffins the yuck face, but my Grandma Gwen used to make them all the time when I was young, so making (and eating) them always makes me smile.

Ben is a pro in the kitchen and he helped teach Hallie how to dump the ingredients in and get things all stirred up.  He did most of the hard work but Hallie seemed to have a good time anyway.  When it came time to eat the muffins, neither of them seemed to like them that much.  Bummer!  They ate the bran parts but didn’t like the blueberries.  Go figure!  I guess next time we will have to leave them plain or try Banana Bran instead.

While we were waiting for the muffins to cook, Ben and I got in a round of Go Fish.  It is his favorite game these days so we play at least a few times every day.  Hallie likes to be on my team but isn’t the best teammate since she often shouts out the pictures on the cards and gives away your hand.  (Horse!  Seashell! Crab!)  It’s actually pretty cute but makes winning a little difficult. Smile  We have the I Spy version of Go Fish and I highly recommend it, the cards are so colorful and fun.

After Ben beat me by two pairs in Go Fish, the kids turned on the tunes on the piano and showed off their dance moves.  Poor kids probably won’t be winning any dance competitions but I think they’re adorable!

We need some tap shoes for those amazing dancers! If you wanted the blueberry flavor you could try to "blend" them in?
