Birthday celebrations

My parents weren’t able to be here to celebrate Ben’s birthday so my mom and my sister Ali wanted to do a little celebration when they came to town to visit.  Since Ben had so much fun at the waterslide we went to when we visited Fargo, my mom asked me to see if we could find a hotel with a waterslide near our place and luckily there was one not too far away.

Ben and Hallie swam for hours and Hallie even went on the slide since she saw how much fun her big brother was having going down.  Ben got really brave and went down by himself but after a wild second solo trip, he stuck to riding on our laps for the rest of the time.  After all that swimming, the kids were starving and luckily we had a big birthday cake on hand!  Ben is really into Tom & Jerry these days and was thrilled when we went to pick out cakes and they had one with Tom & Jerry on it.  We didn’t have a cake at his other party (what kind of mom am I?!) so it was good we finally got one in!

It was a great weekend but we were definitely missing my dad who is working in Alaska right now.  Ben says that we have to go back there again when he gets back so he can swim with Buddy too.  :)
After my mom and Ali headed home on Sunday, Jeff, the kids and I headed over to Janet and Arts for a birthday dinner for Art so it was a big birthday weekend with a lot of cake consumed!  Happy 60th Birthday Art!  And Happy Birthday to my sister Sasha too!  She lives in L.A so we couldn’t celebrate with her but maybe that was lucky this year otherwise that would be three cakes in two days.  Yikes!

Here's a great pic I took of Art and the kids after they helped him blow out his birthday candles.
Looks like 60 feels pretty good!
