Lots of Milestones!

We've had quite a few milestones in the Erdall household lately and I realized I hadn't shared any of them on the blog. In the last few weeks Hallie tried baby cereal for the first time and Ben switched to his big boy bed and caught his first fish!

Hallie has only had the cereal one time but we are going to be making it a regular thing now that she is getting bigger and hungrier. She was pretty thrilled about it once she got going (she was grabbing the spoon and shoving it towards her mouth) but as you can see from the pic she wasn't so sure at first.

After 2 and 1/2 years Ben is finally sleeping in a "big boy bed". I had been reluctant to switch his crib over since he was such a good sleeper in there and he liked it. But in addition to being a good sleeper, he is a WILD sleeper and was starting to bruise himself up on the crib rails at night! Now that Hallie had been sleeping through the night consistently for a few months, I was ready to conquer another sleep challenge so we made the switch.

His crib converts into a toddler day-bed but I was pretty nervous about putting him in a bed with nothing to hold him in on one side. He really tosses and turns and would roll out for sure! I wasn't sure what I would do until one of my mom friends suggested Bed Bug Bumpers. Basically its a little wedge shaped foam thing you put under the sheet but it works AWESOME! Best of all, Ben loves it :) It seems like he feels safe in there and he likes that he can get in (and out) all by himself. Wow, that sounded like a testimonial for those bumpers, but I wanted to share in case any of my other mom friends were looking for something similar!

Anyway, its all going really well with the new bed. When we put him in there for the night he stays in there until morning which is a relief. Even in the morning, he will yell for me to come get him and doesn't get out until I get in there. Yet another transition that was 1,000 times easier than I thought it would be. Hallie is sure to give us a run for our money since raising Ben has been pretty easy so far! :)

And last but not least......Ben had his first fishing experience this week and he loved it! Katie bought him a Spiderman fishing pole a few months ago but until now he has only been pretending to fish in our basement. :) Jeff and I took him to Normandale Lake to try and catch some sunfish and luckily we had some success! Jeff technically caught the fish since he was holding the rod most of the time but Ben loved it and he even touched the fish once Jeff had it off the hook. I honestly don't know who had more fun with the whole experience, Jeff or Ben. I know Jeff has been looking forward to fishing with Ben pretty much since the pregnancy test said positive!

We did get a picture of the first fish......no thanks to me though! We didn't start catching fish until right before we were getting ready to leave. I had been so bored waiting that I was taking pictures of trees, the sunsets, Ben, Hallie, the lake, pretty much anything around. Well of course when the reeled the fish in and I went to take a picture, the battery was dead on the camera! Ughh! We took a few with Jeff's phone and thankfully they turned out pretty decent!
